West Seattle Blog… | Subject: Carpenter in renovation after an earthquake

Do you like Seattle? Do you want to be part of a company committed to making it safer? Join Sound Seismic, the city’s leading seismic retrofit company!

We are looking for people with a passion for carpentry who are willing to get their hands dirty and learn our craft. If you share our passion for keeping Seattle residents safe, we’d love to hear from you! We offer on-the-job training, and while no seismic retrofit experience is required, if you have construction experience (framing, concrete, roofing, siding, or similar trades where production efficiency and quality of work are just as important), it’s even better!

You may have seen our yellow trucks around town.

Seismic retrofitting is the process of making homes SAFER in the event of an earthquake. We install plywood shear panels, bolt homes to their foundations, and use other methods to make homes more STRUCTURALLY SOUND. Get to know us better at http://www.soundseimsic.com

Seismic upgrading is demanding and technical work, but it is also relatively quick to learn and master. We provide on-the-job training. No remodeling experience is required, although you must be comfortable with construction tools and power carpentry. Experience in framing, concrete, roofing, or siding (or similar trades where production efficiency and quality of workmanship are equally important) will help shorten your home improvement learning curve.

We offer comprehensive benefits and pay competitive salaries. Top notch people will have opportunities for rapid advancement! We are growing and need carpenters as well as project managers.

The ideal candidate:

Is reliable and trustworthy.
Has experience in roofing, concrete, framing, siding OR SIMILAR TRADES.
Is well organized and plans ahead.
Has a clean and presentable appearance.
Communicates well, verbally and in writing, with peers, customers, contractors, suppliers and supervisors.
Takes pride in a job well done.
Understands and appreciates the importance of effective project management.
Focuses on solutions rather than problems: sees opportunities rather than obstacles.
Sees the value of paid time off and vacation, pension plan and excellent health/dental/vision insurance.
Has a clean driving record and a valid WA driver’s license. We verify.
Lives locally and has reliable transportation
Wants to work for a company committed to training and internal promotion.
Does not hesitate to work hard in a difficult, noisy and sometimes dirty environment.
