More Marion County residents discuss the topic of commercial flights

More Marion County residents sent in letters to share their thoughts on the topic of commercial flights arriving at Ocala International Airport.

“I am 100% confident that having a commercial airport in Ocala would benefit all of our residents and save them time traveling to Orlando and Tampa international airports. I’ve lived in Ocala since 2001, and there’s been a lot of talk about having a commercial airport in Ocala. Let’s do it now,” says Ocala resident Jorge Castillo.

“An airport with commercial flights in Ocala would be so much better than having to drive so far, especially since gas is so expensive. I don’t like driving in Orlando. so I can come back and visit my kids more often,” says Ocala resident Virginia Bryant.

“I would like to see commercial flights. It’s very expensive to take a taxi to Orlando or Tampa. I don’t drive in heavy traffic. ‘don’t use,’ says Anthony resident Karen Sears.

“I believe that everyone pays taxes for this airport, and it should be expanded so that we can all use it. Right now I have to drive to Orlando or Tampa to fly home to see my kids. It would be so nice to go here to Ocala to do it. I would probably fly home a little more often. As for the farms, I don’t see how it’s going to affect them any more than it’s already affecting them right now. I mean, people will just buy the land and build houses anyway. If we all pay taxes, it should be for all of us, not just the rich. I also hope that we will grow and have a commercial airport,” says Ocala resident Terry Lucy.
