John Torres, editor of FLORIDA TODAY and host of the Murder on the Space Coast podcast, will moderate a discussion Wednesday, April 13 on the validity and necessity of Florida Belief Integrity Units for the latest edition of the Florida Pulse.

The Florida Pulse is a monthly live stream dedicated to issues affecting communities across Florida and is created and hosted by USA TOAY Network-Florida thought leaders.

Conviction Integrity Units are divisions within state attorney’s offices that conduct out-of-court reviews of guaranteed convictions to investigate allegations of actual innocence. Conviction Integrity Units investigate allegations of wrongful conviction based on fact. Currently, only 4 of Florida’s 20 state attorney’s offices have it.

Joining the conversation will be Seth Millerexecutive director of the Florida Innocence Project, investigative journalist Erin Moriarty “48 Hours” and Conviction Integrity Advocate Therese Jean-Pierre Coy.
